NET-Engineering is the paper taken by candidates applying to all Engineering and Computing programmes at NUST. It is weighted heavily toward Mathematics (50%), with Physics (30%) and English (20%) making up the rest. The full paper runs 200 MCQs in 3 hours with no negative marking — so speed, accuracy under time pressure, and attempting every question all matter.

The practice bank here is deliberately hard, pitched at A-Level standard: calculus, binomial theorem, trigonometric equations, vectors and complex numbers on the Mathematics side; projectiles, moments, circular motion and EMF in Physics; and graduate-level vocabulary, inference and critical reasoning in English. Every quantitative answer is computed in code, so worked solutions are always correct.

Who takes this paper: HSSC Pre-Engineering, ICS, and equivalent candidates applying to Engineering or Computing programmes. Candidates with Pre-Engineering plus Additional Biology, or Pre-Medical plus Additional Mathematics, also appear in NET-Engineering when applying to these programmes. Engineering/Computing candidates can additionally opt for BS Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Food Science & Technology without a separate NET or registration fee.

* Pre-Medical candidates applying to Engineering without the additional maths exam appear in NET-Engineering but must clear NUST's condensed 8-week Mathematics course before admission (registration at connected.nust.edu.pk).

Frequently asked questions
